A new General Aviation Terminal is being constructed at Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois to replace the previous structure built in the 1950’s.
The facility accommodates private and corporate aircraft owners and pilots alike as they fly to and from our region daily. The new facility will provide adequate space and the modern accommodations expected for their use and convenience.

“Regularly this facility is the first impression of our region to those doing business here or looking to do so,” said Airport Director, Doug Kimmel. “What we are building is a much-needed improvement to represent and showcase what southern Illinois has to offer.”
The 4,768 s/f terminal will feature approximately twice the amount of space of the previous building, and feature: expanded public waiting and meeting areas, improved flight planning rooms and related accommodations; new parking lot and lighting; and increased office and work space for the airport’s Fixed Base Operator, Midwest Aviation that provides commercial aeronautical services for airport users.

Project cost including new parking lot construction is $4.6 million. 62% of the project is being funded by FAA, with the remainder funded with airport and IDOT funds. Project completion is expected for the summer of 2025.
